RCMP warn public to keep an eye out for children or pets left in vehicles

The RCMP are encouraging the public to keep an eye out for children and pets left in cars this summer. Constable Grant Kirzinger with the RCMP says that in summer months, problems with heat exhaustion from children and animals left in cars can become a serious issue. However, he encourages the public against taking matters into their own hands. If a person is not sure of whether the animal or person has reached heat exhaustion, Constable Kirzinger says to be cautious and not jump to conclusions. Constable Kirzinger says that if you spot a vehicle with a child or pet in it where it is not yet an emergency, you should call the local RCMP detachment and write down the vehicle’s license plate number.
