RCMP seek redemption in second annual Raiders vs. Mounties charity game

The Lloydminster RCMP are looking to redeem themselves against the Holy Rosary Raiders in the 2nd annual Bring a Tin to the Rim charity basketball game.

After the success of the inaugural event last year, the Mounties will be taking on the Raiders Senior Basketball team once again while accepting donations to the Food Bank. Constable Micheal Hagel says the Mounties are training hard after last year’s loss.

“We’re working on dunking, we’re working on layups, we’re working dribbling. Let’s be honest, we’re hoping we don’t get blown out of the water here.”

Hagel says one of the detachment’s main priorities is bridging the gap between RCMP and youth in the community.

“We get to show the community that we can have some fun too. We don’t take this game too seriously, it’s a lot like the Harlem Globetrotters versus the Washington Generals. It’s just a really fun experience for all of us.”

Hagel says the event is open to anyone in the community but there is one condition.

“Cheer on your favourite mountie, we’re not worried about Holy. You have to cheer for the mounties if you’re going to come to this game.”

The charity event will take place on December 18th at 7:45 p.m. at Holy Rosary High School. The cost of admission is a non-perishable food donation for the food bank.

It's Tre "the Giant Employee", doing that evenings/weekends on 106.1 The Goat. I am bringing my overall weirdness to the earholes of Lloydminster. I know this guy other guy named Tre Lopushinsky who does news. He's a real professional, informing Lloydminster on what's going on.
