Dinner play is raising money for new animal shelter

House of Paws is putting on a dinner play to help fund a new animal shelter in Lloydminster.

This years play, Murder at Crimson House, is a murder mystery, a comedy and a musical. The dinner play will be shown from Thursday, November 28, to Saturday, November 30. However, tickets are only available for Thursdays showing.

This year marks their 19 anniversary. Gail Noble, Director, explains that they use to be connected with the SPCA but decided to split so they could focus on only raising money for a new shelter.

“We have $113,000 saved from last year, and we are hoping to get that this year. When we have enough, or somebody else comes along to build, we can put it towards it but we are saving this money to replace our animal shelter.”

A new shelter would be bigger than the current one, allowing the SPCA to take in more animals.

The evening starts at 5:30 p.m. and is located at the Kitscoty Community Hall. The actors are local to the Border City and area. Noble mentions some of the actors have been with them for 19 years.

“The most important (thing) for us is that we are raising money for an animal shelter in Lloydminster. So, if you love animals, this is a good way to support and get an evening out, get a beautiful meal, you get a play. The money goes to an animal shelter.”

Viewers of the show will enjoy turkey, ham, beef, an assortment of salads and baked potatoes.

“We know that times are hard, right now, in Lloydminster and for us to sell out three nights for this event, we’re ever so grateful for that.”

Tickets for Thursday night can be bought at Mel’s Hair Shop, 5201 48 St, Lloydminster, Alta.
