NLSD celebrates ninth anniversary of C-School

The Northern Lights School Division is celebrating the ninth anniversary of C-School.

The program has been run annually out of the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre, providing children with hands-on learning experiences. At C-School, students between grades 3 and 6 get the chance to re-enact the fur trade, skate with the Bonnyville Pontiacs and interview them afterward, and learn about math while timing each other on the running track.

“These are the types of experiences that students remember and talk about long after they leave the Centennial Centre,” said Board Chair Arlene Hrynyk. “It helps them make the connection between what they are learning and the world around them in a way that is fun and exciting.”

The school is open between October and April, and is available to all children in Bonnyville and Cold Lake.
