Parade of Lights grows in its fifth year

It was another successful year for the fifth annual Parade of Lights.

Founder Ryan Leblanc says the parade saw more entries than ever before with about 70 entrants. Leblanc says the only thing they are looking to change for next year is to have fewer people park on the parade route.

“Hopefully fewer people park around the parade route next year otherwise it’s going to be the same route and everything should be about the same.”

Leblanc says they’re still tallying the donations for the Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation and saw a large number of toys come in for the Lloydminster Sexual Assault Centre.

“We had an overwhelming amount of donations come in and it was amazing to see.”

Leblanc believes its one of the events that bring people together and enjoy spending time together right before the holidays.

“It’s nice to see everybody come out and enjoy something like that this close to Christmas. It kicks off the holiday season and it seems to bring everybody together. From all the smiles we see it’s just fantastic and we’re happy that everybody was able to come out and enjoy it.”
