Alberta Insurance review open to community

A new online survey is giving residents from Lloydminster and surrounding areas the opportunity to point out changes needed with Alberta’s automotive insurance.

The survey looks to assist the government in identifying improvements to the current system while in the midst of a review.

The government says a review was launched in fall 2019 due to complaints on increased costs.

“As we review Alberta’s automobile insurance system, we are asking Albertans, service providers and other relevant stakeholders to be part of the potential solution. A thorough understanding of consumer and industry needs will help ensure our recommendations to the government are realistic and reflective of the marketplace as a whole,” says the chair of the government’s Automobile Insurance Advisory Committee Chris Daniel.

The questionnaire is open to Albertans until March 6th. The committee plans on delivering its findings to the UCP government in June.

Industry data shows Albertans pay the third-highest rates for auto insurance in Canada, behind B.C. and Ontario.
