Lloyd Mall is taking more precautionary measures and is cutting their hours to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The mall will be open from noon to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

“Some of our stores have been given different directions from their corporate offices to have less hours or even close. That is changing by the minute,” says General Manager Kim Richer.

“We’re trying to keep our Lloyd Mall website up to date but it’s changing so constantly that we can’t promise that it’s up to date. Other than that if you do have a favourite store then phoning them directly to see if they are open or what their hours are.”

Richer believes essential services are going to be available during this time and notes both Safeway and Shoppers Drug Mart hours remain unchanged.

She says they will stop the use of food trays in the food court and will be spreading the tables to encourage social distancing.

“We’ve already upped our cleaning maybe a month or so ago when all of this was just hitting the world. We’ve increased cleaning and sanitization and high touch points are being washed down more frequently with higher disinfectant levels.”

Events at the mall scheduled for March and April have been cancelled or postponed due to restrictions on large public gatherings. Some of the events such as seniors activities and kids zone are targeted towards vulnerable residents

“We encourage people who are a part of the vulnerable population to please stay away. We need to do our part in figuring out what will happen with the spreading of the virus.”

Richer encourages residents to be mindful and follow the recommendations of health officials by following proper hygiene procedures.
