Husky Energy postpones upgrader turnaround

Husky Energy is pushing the turnaround for the Lloydminster Upgrader, scheduled this April, to a later date.

Husky spokesperson Kim Guttormson says they believe the deferral is in the best interests of the community given the COVID-19 situation.

She maintains their priority is the health and safety of the workforce, their families and the community. She says they know it will have an impact for both those coming to Lloydminster for work and those in the city who rely on their arrival but the decision is being made with their health and safety in mind.

Husky will be evaluating plans to continue work at a later date and has plans in place at all their sites to ensure the health and safety of their workers.

Guttormson says they are working with employees to address any potential exposure and concerns workers may have.
