Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation to hold Movember fundraiser

The Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation has announced a Movember fundraiser.

On Thursday, November 26, the foundation will be hosting a Brazilian Steak Night at Tier Ultra Lounge, featuring dueling pianos, a silent auction, and a prize for the best mustache, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Care Unit in the Lloydminster Hospital.

“We’ve been wanting to do a Movember event now for a couple of years,” said Wendy Plandowski, CEO of the LRHF. “The main reason is just to ensure that the community knows that we have a Cancer Care Unit right in the Lloydminster Hospital that’s a regional chemotherapy deliverer, and so this is important for us to raise awareness that the Lloydminster Hospital does have this service, and that people with those requirements can access those locally.”

Plandowski also says that the money will be used for a new initiative at the unit.

“We would be thrilled if we raised enough money to support our cancer care bags that we’re developing right now,” said Plandowski. “What we’re doing, is we’re creating a bag for every new chemotherapy patient that comes to the Lloydminster Hospital for chemotherapy. There’s a number of costs for those bags – there’s the bag itself, they’re going to have a heat pack in it, there’s going to be a journal, things like that to help them through their journey, and so we would like to offset some of those costs for those patients. So every dollar raised will have a significant impact on that.

One hundred tickets are available, and they will be sold for $100 each, with a $40 tax receipt. Plandowski also says those who buy tickets before Friday, November 20, will be entered into a draw for second row tickets to this year’s Grey Cup.

Tickets can be bought at the LRHF offices, Tier Ultra Lounge, Investor’s Group, Richardson’s Jewelry, or Cliff Rose for Clothes.
