Lloydminster closes playgrounds to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Both City-owned and playground equipment on school property are closed to the public starting Thursday, March 26.

The closures are in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is in conjunction with both the Lloydminster Public School Division and the Lloydminster Catholic School Division.

The city says by suspending access to playground equipment it will limit the number of touchpoints which are not always cleaned and sanitized after every use.

Green spaces such as soccer fields and walking trails near playgrounds are still open and it is strongly urged that residents follow physical distancing protocols.

Protocols include people staying two metres or six feet away from each other.

Both the fenced, off-leash dog park on 41 Street and 47 Avenue and the unfenced off-leash park at R.H. Brekko Lake on 51 Avenue and 62 Street remain open.
