SHA confirms positive COVID-19 case in Lloydminster

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is confirming a positive case of COVID-19 in Lloydminster.

SHA spokesperson Doug Dahl says SHA staff are reaching out to those at risk of contracting the virus or who may have come into contact with the positive case. He says details on the case are not being shared due to patient privacy.

Dahl reminds residents to take precautions to reduce the risk of exposure by thoroughly washing their hands, avoid touching their face, follow guidelines on physical distancing and monitor for any symptoms of COVID-19.

“We want to remind everyone that during this time social distancing is extremely important. Please stay home. Keep your distance from each other. If you are out in the community to get essential things, practice proper handwashing and disinfect the things you are bringing into your home before putting them away.”

Anyone with symptoms should immediately self-isolate and call HealthLine 8-1-1.

Overall as of March 30th, there are a total of 661 positive COVID-19 cases in Alberta and 156 in Saskatchewan. In Alberta, 46 positive cases were found in the Central zone with two in Vermilion River County.

Saskatchewan has updated their COVID-19 tracking which moved Lloydminster from the Central region to the North. The North region has 33 positive cases with one person hospitalized and four people who have recovered from the virus.
