Saskatchewan truckers carrying essential supplies granted exceptions

Saskatchewan truckers hauling vital goods will now be allowed to go longer to meet demand.

The Government of Saskatchewan is now allowing these truckers to continue driving even after maxing out their hours, provided they get at least eight hours of rest after arriving at their destination.

The exceptions only apply to drivers hauling goods that meet immediate needs for the fight against COVID-19. These include groceries, fuel, sanitation equipment, medical supplies or anything required to manufacture these items.

Truckers coming back to Saskatchewan will also be exempt from the 14-day isolation period but are still urged to follow health precautions and monitor for symptoms.

They’re also strongly encouraged to keep an eye on their fatigue levels and get more rest should they need to.
