The Government of Alberta has released a list of Family Resource Networks who will be getting extra funding to help vulnerable residents during the pandemic, including a couple of local groups.
Previously, the province announced they would provide a total $30 million to municipalities, charities and non-profits through a one-time opportunity distributed through the province.
Groups receiving funding in the Lloydminster area include Midwest Family Connections and the Wainwright & District FCSS. To be eligible for the funding, an organization had to meet requirements:
- Help people maintain independence, build resiliency and strengthen their ability to cope during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Provide supports to help sustain members in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Fund civil society organizations to deliver projects for vulnerable Albertans who are in need during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Coordinate services and programs to address the social well-being of vulnerable Albertans during the COVID-19 pandemic
The Government says the funding will allow these FRNs to provide high-quality prevention and early intervention services and supports for children.
