10 New COVID cases, 10 Recoveries across Sask; Province working to curb outbreak in Far North

Saskatchewan is working to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the Far North area of the province.

On Friday, Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Shahab signed a Public Health Order restricting all non-critical travel into far-northern Saskatchewan, and the strong urging to not travel between these communities. The move was made to fight a recent outbreak in La Loche.  The Far North zone holds 25 cases, the most active currently in the province.

This area will be monitored with checkpoints for the time being. A map with the locations affected by the order can be found below.

Premier Scott Moe says that while the curb of COVID-19 continues to flatten, there will still be these kinds of outbreaks in pockets of the province.

Across the province, there are ten new COVID-19 cases, with 10 recoveries as well, evening out the active case total at 57.  There have been 280 recoveries out of 351 confirmed cases. Five people remain in hospital, two in intensive care in Saskatoon.

In the North Zone, there are now seven active cases, 56 recoveries and one inpatient hospitalization.

25,586 COVID-19 tests have been performed across Saskatchewan, with 24,804 negatives.
