Saskatchewan confirms twenty new COVID-19 cases, two in North zone

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has confirmed 20 new COVID-19 cases, largely within the Far North zone.

Eighteen of the new cases are in La Loche and the surrounding area, while the other two are in the North zone. This brings active cases to 171 of 487 total reported. In the north zone, that number is 37 active, 57 recoveries.

There are also thirteen people in hospital, two in the North, seven in Saskatoon. One patient in the North is also in the ICU, the other three ICU patients are in Saskatoon.

Of the 487 cases in the province, 138 cases are travel-related, 184 are community or mass gatherings transmissions, 41 have no known exposures and 124 are under investigation by local public health.

As of May 5th, 32,921 COVID-19 tests have been completed, with 30,181 confirmed negative results.
