25 new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, no new cases in North zone

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has confirmed 25 new COVID-19 cases in the last twenty-four hours, largely attributed to the Far North.

Twenty-two of the new cases are in the town of La Loche, two more in the far north and one in Saskatoon. Active cases are now at 194 of 512 reported. Two new recoveries put the provincial total at 312. In the North zone, the number is at 36 active cases, and 58 recoveries.

Thirteen people are in hospital. Two are in the North Zone, as well as one ICU patient. Seven more are in Saskatoon, with three in the ICU.

As a result of the current outbreak in the Far North, Saskatchewan has further tightened travel restrictions. All non-essential travel to and between the communities of La Loche and Stony Rapids is now restricted, among other travel restrictions to the far north.

To date, 33,591 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province, with 30,739 negatives.
