The Vermilion Fair has been halted so as to prevent the risk of COVID-19.
The Vermilion Agricultural Society says after consultation with the Alberta Government and volunteers, that a postponement was the way forward, and that more than likely the 114th incarnation of the fair will not go forward until Summer 2021. The Vermilion Ag Grounds are also closed for events for the near future.
They add that they will be continuing to monitor the situation, and are still looking to put on an event this year that will recognize all the community support since 1906. However, this will only go ahead with lower health risk and the easing of physical distancing restrictions.
The society says they will continue to adapt operations as new information becomes available.
