One new COVID-19 case confirmed in the County of Vermilion River

Another case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the County of Vermilion River. There are now three active cases in the county and two recoveries. It is one of three new cases in the AHS Central zone which has a total of 97 cases.

There were 81 new cases in the province and one death. The fatality was a woman in her 80’s in a continuing care facility in the Calgary zone. There has been 115 COVID-related deaths in Alberta.

Alberta has had a total of 6,098 cases and 4,020 of them have recovered while 1,963 remain active.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw has also confirmed a Calgary inmate has been tested positive for COVID-19. She says they showed no symptoms when they were initially incarcerated but felt ill the following day. The individual and their cellmate were isolated to prevent spreading the virus.

Over 177,000 tests have been processed in the province since the pandemic began.
