The Saskatchewan Health Authority has confirmed thirteen new COVID-19 cases province-wide, largely located in La Loche.

Twelve of the new cases are in the town. The other is in the North Zone. There have also been six more recoveries, making a total of 335. 203 of 544 reported cases are considered active. In the North Zone, that number is at 38 active, 61 recoveries.

There are currently 19 people in hospital – 15 are receiving inpatient care, six in the North and nine in Saskatoon. Four are in intensive care, three in Saskatoon and one in the North.

In response to COVID-19’s economic impact, The Government of Saskatchewan has announced an extension to the Saskatchewan Small Business Emergency Payment.

The $50 million program provides 15 per cent of a small or medium business’ sales revenue from April 2019 or February 2020, up to $5,000. It has now been extended to the month of May for businesses that will need to remain closed or on reduced operations after May 19. Businesses owners will not need to reapply for the funding, it will automatically be re-extended.

Over 4,700 applications have been processed for the benefit, and the Government has given more than $15 million in support to Saskatchewan businesses. More information can be found on the Government of Saskatchewan Website.
