Saskatchewan records eighth COVID-19 death; another under investigation

Saskatchewan has recorded the province’s eighth COVID-19 related death.

The person who passed away was in their late 50s and lived in the Far North area of the province. Another person’s death, the details of which have not been released, is also under a Medical Health Officer investigation.

Also indicated in the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s May 26th update are no new confirmed COVID-19 cases and three recoveries.

This brings active totals down to 77 of 634 reported. Recoveries are now at 549, or just over 86 per cent. Cases in the north zone have remained low, with five active and 104 recoveries.

There are currently five people in hospital. Two are receiving inpatient care, one in Regina and one in the North. Three are in intensive care, all in Saskatoon.

To date, 44,580 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province.
