Suspect in Dylan Chretien murder case makes first court apperence

A suspect in the death of Dylan Chretien, a 30-year-old man from Lloydminster, made his first court appearance Thursday.

Brandon Smith, 33, was charged on June 10th with alleged 2nd-degree murder. According to the Prince Albert Daily Herald, he appeared in provincial court via phone and is set to appear again for a show cause, or bail hearing, on June 23rd.

Chretien was reported missing on October 27, 2019. Human remains were found outside Prince Albert on December 4th, which an autopsy later confirmed was him. Police have not made a cause of death public, however, they have ruled Chretien’s death as a homicide.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
