Lloydminster RCMP arrest and charge dangerous driver

A driver from Calgary is facing charges after a hit and run in the Border City.

On July 3, Lloydminster RCMP received several 911 calls about a vehicle collision at 44 Street and 47 Avenue at 11:45 p.m.

According to police, witnesses say a vehicle was speeding eastbound on 44 Street when it hit another vehicle from behind. The collision caused the second vehicle to roll which injured the driver and the first vehicle then fled.

The second driver was taken to hospital by EMS. RCMP found the suspect a short time later and they were arrested.

Twenty-nine-year-old Billy Ly was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis in a public place.

Ly was released on a $500 cash bail and will appear in Saskatchewan Provincial Court on August 24th.

RCMP thanks the residents who stopped and helped the injured driver before emergency crews arrived to the scene.
