Lloyd Ex Fair sees good turnout for first virtual event

Organizers of the Lloyd Ex Fair are happy with the turnout to their first virtual fair.

Lloyd Exh Assistant General Manager Jackie Tomayer says all the online portions of the fair when exactly as planned, but they did have to make changes to their on-site events due to weather.

“The virtual fair went amazing, better than what we could have expected. If the weather would have cooperated more than we would have been happier, but we can’t control the weather.”

The Lloyd Ex Fair brought forward a reverse parade, classic fair foods, the annual pancake breakfast in a drive-thru style and ended the festivities with fireworks.

“We probably had 800 to 1,000 vehicles here.”

The fair was organized to replace the postponed annual Colonial Days Fair for the year. The event was created with the provincial health guidelines in mind to help reduce group sizes at the event and maintain physical distancing. The Colonial Days Fair has been rescheduled to the second Wednesday of July 2021.

The Lloydminster Exhibition Association staff are now shifting their focus to the fall and spring shows in the hopes that they will be able to have people attend in-person.
