BioClean Aquatic Centre all set to re-open Tuesday

The BioClean Aquatic Centre is set to meet their slated re-opening date.

The indoor pool will open again on August 4th, after delaying their opening due to COVID-19 restrictions. Saskatchewan public health orders allowed the Aquatic Centre to re-open in July,  but they took the extra time to prepare for re-opening with new health guidelines.

Visitors will need to schedule a time in online. When they get their spots, they will need to come to swim-ready and enter through the change room. They’ll be given a basket to hold extra clothes and personal effects, which will be returned when people leave through the dry concession area.

Manager Mary Price says people should also be ready for enhanced sanitation and physical distancing around the pool.

“We’ll have an extra person just out on deck because when they are swimming, families will still need to social distance from other families. So we have somebody out there monitoring that, and maps and signage up for pathways.”

In addition, some features in the Bioclean Aquatic Centre will not open right away. Hot tubs, saunas and shared pool items will still not be available, so as to prevent a possible risk of COVID-19 transmission. Price says they will phase these back in as they continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation.

“As we move through the phases, more things will be put out, like the mats and that kind of stuff will be put out for use. Life jackets, however, will be available for use.”

The BioClean Aquatic Centre will also not be closing down in September as usual, as they took the extra time during the COVID-19 lockdown to install new equipment and make upgrades they normally would then.

Bioclean Aquatic Centre times can be booked on the City of Lloydminster’s website.
