17 new COVID-19 cases in North-West zone, 25 across Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan is reporting a spike in COVID-19 cases in the North-West Zone as 17 of the 25 new cases were confirmed in the last 24-hours.

Of the new cases, 16 were reported in the area housing Cut Knife, Unity and Wilkie. The area now has 20 active cases as of August 15th. The other new case was in the Battlefords area. The Lloydminster and area region has one active case.

Across the province, six cases were found in the South-Central zone and two in Saskatoon. One more COVID-related death has been confirmed as a person in the 80 to 89 age range passed away in the South-Central zone.

Twenty-three of the 25 new cases and 123 of the 189 active cases are in communal living settings.

Eight people are in hospital. Three people are receiving inpatient care; two in Saskatoon and one in Regina. Five people are in intensive care; three in Saskatoon, one in the North-Central region and one in the South-West.

Of the 1,556 reported cases, a total of 1,356 people have recovered.
