Vermilion RCMP arrest aggravated assault suspect in Innisfree

Vermilion RCMP say they have arrested a man after a stabbing in Innisfree.

In the early hours on September 26th, police were called on a report of a man who was hurt in the area. Upon arriving, the 55-year-old victim was found to have serious injuries, having to be transported to Vegreville Hospital and later to the Unversity of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He remains in hospital, recovering from stab wounds and other injuries.

After an investigation with the assistance of the St Paul Forensic Identification Section and Edmonton General Investigations Section, a 35-year-old man was arrested September 28th.

Alexander Taylor of Innisfree has been charged with alleged aggravated assault, obstruction of a police officer and failure to comply with a release order. Taylor has appeared in court and is still in custody.

He will next appear in St Paul Provincial Court on October 1.
