Suspects arrested after car stolen, police car rammed in North Battleford

Battlefords RCMP have arrested three suspects after a car was allegedly stolen, and the suspects rammed a police car.

Around 11:30 AM October 13th, a Battlefords RCMP Member on patrol noticed what they determined was a stolen car behind a business on 101st Street in North Battleford. As the officer approached the vehicle, a male suspect left the bank and got into the driver’s seat.  When the officer tried to block off the car, the driver rammed the police car, but could not move it enough to escape.

The vehicle’s occupants took off on foot, with the RCMP being able to catch three people in the vehicle. Police add that the suspects arrested allegedly had had numerous warrants out for their arrests when caught.

Both the officer’s vehicle and the stolen one were damaged, but no one was hurt. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Residents are also reminded to lock their cars and remove their keys, as the Battlefords RCMP say there has been an increase in the number of stolen vehicles and in the vast majority of cases, criminals are finding the keys either in the vehicle or near by.
