The Lloydminster Interval Home Society is getting residents into the Christmas season with their latest project.

The organization is opening ‘Thriftmas on 50th’ located at 4810-50th Avenue on November 4th where they will be selling holiday items such as Christmas clothing and decor as well as toys and gifts.

“We decided this year that Lloydminster needed a Christmas store,” Social Enterprise Manager Christa Mullaly says. “We are so supported by donations throughout the entire 12 months of the year by our community at ‘For The Interval’ store and decided that this would be a really fun thing to do.”

The store will be open until early-January and will gift wrapping available on site. All proceeds from the sales will go back towards supporting the Lloydminster Interval Home Society and their programs.

“It supports essentially all of the programs, supports and services throughout our entire organization. One of the main purposes of our social enterprise store that operates 12 months a year is to generate revenue to support all our  supports and services for women and children and families.”

With opening day a week away, Mullaly says there’s been plenty of excitement as they finish setting up the store.

“There’s been a lot of fun here behind the scenes, but the excitement will really come when we are able to open our doors, take off all the Christmas wrapping paper from the windows and welcome residents of Lloydminster and the communities around.”

‘Thriftmas on 50th’ will not be taking in donations at the store location. Residents looking to donate items can do so by dropping them off at the back door of the ‘For The Interval’ Store.

During the holiday season, the Lloydminster Interval Home Society also accepts toys, personal care items, and gifts for women, teens and children in their programs. The organization is also taking in volunteers to help with both shops this holiday season.
