Company charged $24k for 2018 Turtle Lake work injury

A Saskatchewan based company has been charged $24,000 in relation to a 2018 workplace accident in Turtle Lake.

The company, listed as 101063698 Saskatchewan Ltd, pleaded guilty to two workplace safety violations in St. Walburg Provincial Court on November 3rd, according to The Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety.

The first charge was for failing to make sure that the worksite was adequately supervised. The other was for not ensuring that workers were not working or operating machinery the minimum distance away from any exposed energized conductor, or that materials weren’t being stored there.

The company was fined $8,571.43 with a $3,428.57 surcharge on both counts, for a total of $24,000.

The worker in question was hurt on August 13th, 2018 while working on a platform attached to a forklift.
