Saskatchewan Government opens Temporary Wage Supplement Program for senior-care workers

The Saskatchewan Government has opened up a new phase of their Temporary Wage Supplement Program, this time to assist those working with seniors.

This round of the supplements is for workers in long-term care facilities, personal care homes, integrated healthcare facilities, including both long-term and short-term care, and workers providing care to seniors at home.

Starting November 19th, it will provide $400 a month for two months to all of these eligible workers, regardless of income level.

Finance Minister Donna Harpauer says that this is also to recognise the extra workload new public health measures will cause for workers, like suspending public visits to long-term care facilities and personal care homes, except for compassionate reasons.

The supplement is open to full and part-time workers, casual workers, anyone employed by an eligible facility or providing home care services. It is not open to third-party contract service providers working at those facilities, however.

The Government says a full list of eligibility requirements and application forms can be found on their website.
