LPSD confirms Covid-19 case at Rendell Park School

The Lloydminster Public School Division has confirmed a new case of COVID-19 at Rendell Park School.

The school division says they were made aware of the case by the Saskatchewan Health Authority on November 19th, and that it “had impacted individuals in grade 5 at Rendell Park Elementary School.”

The person was last at the school on November 6th, which LPSD says limited the possible exposure time. Due to the fact that this is the second case found at the school in individuals in grade 5, the SHA has classified these cases as an outbreak.

The LPSD says a formal letter will be posted to their website regarding the outbreak. In the meantime, they say communication has been shared with the specific classroom cohort affected, as well as the school community.

Classes will be canceled for students in Grade 5 – R 18 and R-20 on Friday, November 20th. Students will return to school on Monday, November 23rd. This decision, LPSD explains, is to prevent any further risk of transmission, and was made with guidance from public health.

The Lloydminster Public School Division adds that with support from Rendell Park Elementary School Administration, Public Health and the SHA, they will continue to communicate additional information as it becomes available.

Update: this article has been updated to reflect new information from LPSD. Grade 5 class R-20 is also cancelled Friday.
