Vermilion Valley Lodge staff member tests positive for COVID-19

The Vermilion and District Housing Foundation is informing residents of a staff member at Vermilion Valley Lodge who tested positive for COVID-19.

In a release, the foundation says all staff members and residents of the lodge will be tested and an outbreak was declared on December 1 at 2:30 p.m.

The County of Vermilion River was also moved into enhanced public health measures as there are 10 active cases in the county. The measures limit retail businesses and entertainment and event services to 25 per cent maximum capacity. Personal services and wellness services will be open by appointment only.

Restaurants can allow a maximum of 6 people from the same immediate household at a table with no movement between tables and liquor cannot be served past 10 p.m. Conference centres, banquet halls and concert venues will be closed and places of worship must limit to 1/3 capacity with all attendees wearing face masks and socially distancing. Measures will be in place for at least December 15.

The M.D. of Wainwright was also placed in enhanced public health measures.
