Kitscoty RCMP requesting dash cam footage in search for carjacking suspect

Kitscoty RCMP is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man or dash cam footage of a carjacking in the County of Vermilion River.

Mounties say they were called about the carjacking at about 9 p.m. on December 28. A man wearing a red winter jacket and face covering allegedly blocked the highway at the intersection of Township Road 494 and Range Road 20, south of Blackfoot.

The driver of a grey 2019 Kia Soul stopped their vehicle and the man allegedly pointed a firearm and forced the driver and passenger out of the vehicle. The suspect then fled in the vehicle which had a Saskatchewan license plate of 291 LZZ.

The vehicle has not been found and anyone with information or dash cam footage of the area between 8 and 10 p.m. is asked to contact Kitscoty RCMP or their local police detachment. An anonymous tip can also be left with Crime Stoppers.
