Mobile MRI services resume in Lloydminster

AHS is informing residents that mobile MRI services are back in Lloydminster after a unit was damaged in September.

A new GE Voyager Mobile MRI arrived in the city earlier this week and is in operation. Services will be available for two weeks before moving on to Cold Lake, Westlock, Hinton and Camrose before returning to the Border City.

The unit will spend two weeks in each community and AHS expects it will run about 90 scans per week.

“We are pleased to be once again offering this important service to the community and thank everyone for their patience as we waited its arrival,” says Peter Froese, Senior Operating Officer for Diagnostic Imaging with AHS. “The new MRI will help to ensure patients have access to timely diagnostic imaging close to home, using the latest technology.”

AHS also provides other mobile diagnostic imaging services such as mammography screening. The breast cancer screening unit is scheduled to be in Wainwright from January 21st to February 2nd.
