Lloydminster RCMP host award ceremony

The Lloydminster RCMP hosted their second annual award ceremony last week at Holy Rosary High School.
The Recognizing Excellence ceremony acknowledges citizens, dignitaries, businesses, and RCMP alike for their contributions to the city and keeping the community safe.
On Thursday night, close to 55 people received awards for their efforts and RCMP Inspector, Suki Manj, presented each recipient with their award.
“I’ve said this before, I don’t think people do their jobs–whether it’s in the oil rigs, or wherever they’re working–to look for recognition,” says Manj.
“But it’s my responsibility as a leader of this organization to recognize the people that contribute to make our community safer,” Manj continues.
“So I think that inspires people and it shows them that we care. We try to do that on a day-to-day basis, but this is a special event for us.”
Manj also says the response to the event has been very positive and he expects the event will be expanded next year and moved to a larger venue.
Dignitaries in attendance included Mayor Rob Saunders, MLAs Colleen Young and Richard Starke, and Fire Chief, Jordan Newton.
