City opens business license applications, opens online option

The City has opened up business license applications again, with a newly added process to streamline it.

Now, new businesses will have the option to apply online for the applications using the city’s website, instead of having to go to City Hall to apply. On the website, business owners can upload their necessary documentation and when the city gets it, they’ll establish a timeline for approval and advise of next steps.

Business licenses can still be applied for in person too, at City Hall from 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays.

The City says they’ve made some changes to other processes as well in order to work with businesses on things like funding opportunities, local economic development initiatives, business-specific news, policy and regulation changes.

They’ve also introduced a six-month option for business licences for seasonal businesses so that they don’t need to pay out the entire year to operate. Business categories have also been simplified, and the fees revised, the City also notes.

All businesses actively seeking clients within the City of Lloydminster’s corporate limits must hold a valid municipal business licence.
