All Saskatchewan residents will be able to access an asymptomatic COVID-19 test sold by Quantum Genetix.
It was announced January 26th that the company can now provide the tests to anyone in the province. When they first entered the partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, they were limited to only travel or business-related testing.
The testing kits can provide a result within 24 to 48 hours. Quantum Genetix’s laboratory is licensed to perform COVID-19 testing in Saskatchewan. All health information collected by the kit is directly sent to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and all positive results will be sent to the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory for confirmation and verification.
The company says they envision the test being used by people who may want to visit elderly person for compassion reasons in their home or a long term care housing facility, people living alone allowing one family member to visit them or people living with immune-compromised family members who want to be safe.
Sales on the kits will open up on January 27th, after which pricing information will be available on the Quantum Genetix website.
