RCMP looking for wanted man with possible North Battleford connections

RCMP Major Crimes has put out a fresh call for the public’s assistance finding a suspect that has been wanted for almost two years now.

Police put out a Canada-wide warrant in 2019 for 35-year-old Christian Nyabirungu of Edmonton, who is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault in relation to the murder of Aldane Mesquita on September 13, 2018.

Nyabirungu is described as a black man, 6’2″, 240 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police say he may have changed his appearance in the meantime, however.

In addition to having connections in North Battleford, he is also known to have ties to Edmonton,  Toronto and has family in Montreal.

The RCMP still considers him to be armed and dangerous, and he should not be approached if he is seen.

Instead, anyone who knows the whereabouts of Christian Nyabirungu is asked to call the Strathcona County RCMP or CrimeStoppers should they wish to remain anonymous.
