Vermilion RCMP seize large amounts of meth from Cold Lake man

A Cold Lake man is facing charges after Vermilion RCMP seized over 300 grams of meth from his vehicle.

Residents in the area north of Vermilion called RCMP to report a suspicious vehicle broken down in the middle of Highway 41 in the early morning hours of February 5. RCMP members responded and determined the vehicle was stolen while talking to the driver. The driver was arrested and 300 grams of meth, four grams of fentanyl were seized from the vehicle.

“The interdiction of this significant amount of illegal drugs will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the community it was destined for,” Says Cpl. Mike Dunsmore with Vermilion RCMP. “If it were not for the timely reporting from a member of the community, RCMP may not have been able to make this arrest and seizure.”

Twenty-eight year-old Jonathan Drake Blyan was charged with two drug trafficking offences, stolen property offences and three counts of failing to comply with release orders. Blyan is in custody and appear in Vermilion Provincial Court on February 16 for his bail hearing.
