Lakeland College making some changes to align with COVID-19 guidelines

Lakeland College says students will see some changes as the school works to continue following COVID-19 guidelines.

According to Lakeland’s February 19th update, they have gotten clarification from Advanced Education about library access. While this part of the campus remains open so students or staff can access resources and services, but no one will be able to stay in those areas. Tables, work stations and seating areas are blocked off for the time being.

The school is also telling students and staff that the cafeterias are open but with limited capacity. Contact information will also be collected from people who choose to eat there.

Lakeland is asking people to continue following COVID-19 guidelines when on campus as well, including wearing a mask at all times except when instructing, at which time a face shield is fine.

They’re also told to not have indoor gatherings, keep outdoor gatherings to ten, physically distance, do a self-assessment before coming in and if they are sick.

As of Friday, there is one active COVID-19 case found connected to a student recently on campus. The student, based at the Lloydminster campus, was last on campus on February 11.

Contact tracing has been completed, and the Saskatchewan Health Authority has provided the next steps for people possibly impacted.
