Reservations for Saskatchewan Parks to open in April

Campers across Saskatchewan, including those in Lloydminster, now have a date for when provincial parks will start taking on wilderness enthusiasts for a new season.

With Spring of 2021 on its way, Sask Parks will begin taking seasonal reservations at their campgrounds across the province on April 12th. From there, parks will work on a list from the 14th to the 23rd for nightly or short term stays.

Battlefords Provincial Park will start taking reservations on April 14th, while nearby Meadow Lake Provincial Park and Makwa Lake Provincial Park will open up availabilities on the 16th.

Parks, Culture and Sports Minister Laura Ross says the recent cold weather has got more people raring to go for this year’s camping, and the Parks are ready to provide a safe, local option for summer vacations.

Campers should be aware, Sask Parks has begun working with a new company, Aspira, for the reservation platform. Before reservations open, campers should create a new account when the site is available in April. Online tutorials will be available to help people through it.

Some fees are also changing. Nightly electricity charges will go up one dollar, to $33. There will also be a  $1 increase in full-service nightly sites, now $43 a night.

The new full-service seasonal sites at Greenwater Lake and Meadow Lake provincial parks are $3,400. No other fees have changed compared to last year.

People will be able to find more details about their chosen park online at the SaskParks website.
