Lakeland’s Vermilion Recreation Centre weight room re-opens

Lakeland College’s Vermilion Recreation Centre has re-opened after gyms were okayed to re-open across Alberta.

Earlier this week, gyms were given the green-light to begin operations again by the Alberta Government, provided certain guidelines can be met.

People working out in the weight room at the Vermilion Campus must book in advance, and no walk-ins will be allowed. Their exercises must be kept to low intensity, 3-Ply masks must be worn at all times and physical distancing of three meters maintained.

The pool, cardio equipment and gymnasium are all still closed. Lloydminster’s campus gym will also remain closed as staff plan when and how to open the weight room. In the meantime, students have access to the Servus Sports Centre’s facilities.

The libraries are also open at both campus to a maximum of 15 staff or students, not including library workers.

Students will also be able to study there again if they wear a face covering and staying 2 metres from one another at all times.
