Saskatchewan pledges millions more masks for schools across province

Two Saskatoon companies will be providing millions more face masks and tens of thousands more face shields to Saskatchewan’s schools.

The Government announced Monday that an additional four million medical grade disposable masks and 30,000 face shields will be sent, marking the fourth shipment of PPE the province has directly sent to schools.

The schools should expect supply by mid-March, sent from Innovation Safety Supply, with the government saying this will ensure all staff and students will have daily access to these supplies for the remainder of the school year.

This newest order adds to 12.4 million disposable and 210,000 re-usable masks that have already been provided to school divisions and independent schools this school year, the Government says.

School divisions and independent schools have also received 46,000 face shields already, which this adds on to.

Money for this is coming from $10 million allocated to the Ministry of Education from the provincial COVID-19 contingency fund.
