One person is dead following a serious accident.
On Thursday, January 21st at 7:25 p.m., Smoky Lake RCMP with the support of Redwater and Boyle RCMP and emergency services reported to a collision on Highway 28 at Range Road 175, between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer. The pickup truck was traveling east bound on Highway 28 and crossed the center line into the path of the westbound tractor trailer.
One of the 5 passengers in the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 4 others were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver of the tractor trailer unit was treated at a local hospital and released with minor injuries.
The collision is still being investigated. An update will be provided when new information becomes available.
