R&D Plumbing staff pitch in for 12 street clean up

Lloydminster volunteers were on the move this week as citizens did the spring clean up for the annual Pitch-In Week.

R&D Plumbing staff got in on the action as they went out with their gear to get the ditches cleared along 12th Street in the Border City.

Co-owner Joey Wandler explains that volunteerism is very important to his team as they also live in the community and want to give back.

“We are a community based company and we do lots of business in the community and if the community supports us and we support them. It just shows a lot that if we are out picking the ditches to keep Lloyd clean.”

As the crews rolled up their sleeves and hit the ditches, Wandler is encouraging other companies to be a part of the spring clean up effort.

“Well it would be nice to see maybe more companies around, maybe challenge them to come out and support Lloyd like we are and maybe they can get their companies on and do the same thing possibly.”

The company decision saw about 15 staffers getting the job done on 12 Street.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.

The bigger picture is inter-provincial trade, but if the inspection on a vehicle was removed when it changes owners across the Alberta-Saskatchewan border in Lloydminster, that would be a big help to local vehicle owners in the Border City.
