Motorists on Highway 16 or 44 Street in Lloydminster can expect delays starting the week of May 17. The City says the main east-west corridor will be down to one lane in either direction as construction season rolls out. The rehabilitation work will last about six months.
The City says motorists can expect delays between 59 – 75 Ave as Knelsen Sand and Gravel will be changing the concrete curb and gutters, patching damaged roadways, and complete asphalt resurfacing. Motorists are reminded to be mindful of the posted signs and observe safety instructions as they travel through the construction areas.
The intersection of Highway 16 and 62 Avenue will be closed for the rehabilitation work which will include the installation of concrete pads and the replacement of the water and sanitary sewer mains.
Heavy and oversize loads are advised to use these alternative routes to go around the City. North-South Traffic may use Range Road 14 and 75 Ave on the west side of the city and 40 Ave on the east side to avoid the construction area.
East-West Traffic can use 12 St on the south side of the city and 67 St on the north side.
North-south traffic on 62 Avenue (College Drive) will be re-routed to 59 Avenue, using 43 Street or 47 Street. The City is advising of increased delays along 62 Avenue (College Drive) and recommends motorists use alternate routes to cross Highway 16 (44 Street).
North-south traffic along 75 Avenue will be maintained.
Detour and business access signs will be maintained throughout the duration of this project.
North of Highway 16 (44 Street):
Business access will be available using the north service road between 59 and 62 Ave or 62 Ave from 47 Street.
South of Highway 16 (44 Street):
Business access will be available using the south service road between 59 and 70 Ave, or 43 Street, 66 Ave, 70 Avenue, 75 Avenue and 80 Avenue.
