Special weather statement in effect for Lloydminster and the Midwest region

As at 3:36 pm, Monday May 17, Environment Canada has issued a Special weather statement for the Midwest region including the City of Lloydminster.

Rain changing to wet snow will occur Tuesday night into Wednesday over central and northern Alberta.

A large area of rain will develop Tuesday over central and northern Alberta. Starting Tuesday evening, cold air from the Northwest Territories will move southward, causing rain to switch over to snow. At this time, snowfall amounts remain uncertain as ground temperatures are quite warm.

Potential impacts include poor travel conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and the potential for broken tree branches due to the accumulations of heavy wet snow.
