Bordertown H.O.G Chapter Steak Night in support of kids charities returns

The Bordertown H.O.G Chapter is bringing back their steak night in support of local charities after a year’s hiatus.

The steak night was put on hold last year due to COVID-19 restrictions. With the first phase of those restrictions having been lifted last Sunday, the chapter and the Canadian Brewhouse decided to give the event its return on Thursday, June 3rd and Friday the 4th.

This will be the first event Bordertown H.O.G will be able to hold for the Toy Run this year, and co-chair Murray Getty says while it’s been a challenge working around restrictions, the community support shined through last year, and they hope it does this year as well.

“We were able to run a highly modified event, and run it safely with COVID restrictions, and were still able to raise some much-needed monies for local kids charities, so we’re rolling that into this year.”

The event will raise money directly for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Lloydminster Youth Centre and KidsSport Lloydminster. It’s also the first major lead-up event for the annual Toy Run ride, which is slated for September.

Tickets have been selling fast, with only a few left for the two-day event. Getty explains that it’s very impactful for them to see everyone come together to want to help local kids.

“It’s very important [for] the group of us who organize the Toy Run to make sure we continue to do this, to continue to raise some much-needed dollars for the charities in Lloydminster. [They’ve] all taken a hit from the downturned economy and COVID over the last year-plus, so we’re trying to do everything we can to help them out.

People interested in scooping the last few tickets for the Bordertown H.O.G Steak Night should contact chairs Murray Getty at 780-872-9559 or Guy Dudding at 780-872-0351.

A silent auction is also being held by Bordertown H.O.G Chapter in support of these charities as well.
