The Alberta Winter Games have come to a close this week.
This year’s provincial competition took place in Medicine Hat and several medals were earned by youth representing Zone 7, the Northeastern region, encompassing Lloydminster, down just past Provost and all the way north to Wood Buffalo.
Overall, Zone 7 athletes earned 6 golds, 7 silvers, and 7 bronze, but unfortunately, earned last place. Lloydminster natives who brought home medals are Shaye Holzing and Brooke Jory, with 1st place prizes in the female speed skating relay; Tallin Cemulini won top prize in archery, and silvers went to Jennifer and Mikayla Neufeld in archery as well.
