As Construction continues to ramp up across the Border City residents are being reminded to take note of signage and to give themselves that extra time to complete their commute.
Mayor Gerald Aalbers pointed out just how busy it has become with all the numerous projects and asked for residents to be patient.
“We have a very busy City. You see some of it on 16 Highway and people express that everyday and I appreciate that. We just ask again…patience, work with the traffic rules that have been laid out.”
Apart from the numerous road projects including the work being done on Highway 16 or 44 Street, Aalbers reminds that the City is also working on the new Fire Hall Number One and the Wastewater Treatment plant.
“Fire hall work is progressing as well. So there’s construction [with] other pieces going on. There’s water and sewer work being done across the City. There’s a new sanitary main being put in and the Wastewater treatment plant, let’s not forget about the big one.”
Fire Hall Number One is billed at $7.1 million and is expected to be operational next year. The Wastewater Treatment plant is costing 81.5 million dollars and should be up and running at the end of December 2023.
